Default Verizon BlackBerry "Cyclone"

Caught a first glimpse of a VZW prototype BlackBerry today. Code name is supposedly "Cyclone", but looks very similar to what I've seen as "GammaRay" or the 8800. Design is virtually identical to Motorola Q. Has expansion slot, trackball, GSM, etc.

Can anyone confirm if Cyclone is the same as the 8800?

This is definitely a VZW phone and I know it's capable of international roaming. I must have had my T-mobile users in mind when I typed GSM.

Either way, regardless of the technology, VZW will supposedly have it by sometime in Q2.

Sooner than that. I sat on a plane last week with a senior Verizon executive, (Vice President) and he told me that there will be a Blackberry phone out on the Verizon network with international roaming within the next 5 - 6 months.

Ok so Vzw is on CDMA which means a GSM phone is not for Vzw. It is possible that Vzw might be releasing an 8700 series capable of roaming overseas on a GSM network but I highly doubt Vzw is going to get a version of the 8800 series before any other carrier. I don't have any insider info, but this is just usually how things work. I have no idea what you saw or heard but none of this really makes much sense.

I agree with bcoop I just think this is an 8703 with international roaming capabilities just like the moto v710 and the moto a840

Vodafone is GSM I'm sure. Don't know of any Major European carrier that is not. I think that is a EU Requirement.

ok thats what I thought. Just wondering cause it would make sense if Vzw wants to release a device that can go back and forth between Vodafone and Vzw.
