Hey ... Good news! I installed *a* copy of Windows Vista Ultimate, and to my amazement the desktop manager synced perrfectly without a hitch! It immediately synced through Bluetooth (once I enabled support in the options of course). Just thought everyone would like to know.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ Vista has been in the works for years. I did some alpha testing on it about 3 years ago. Everything I've read tells me that its a good stable release.
I got a new computer with Vista Home Premium and downloaded the newest BlackBerry DesktopManager from the T-Mobile site (3/1/07). The software installed nicely. The BB driver installed recognizing the BB7100T. But as soon as I try to connect the handset, it beeps and the screen goes dead. I plugged it into different USB ports with the same result.
I am using the BB and syncing it for about two years to my XP Desktop and TabletPC without problems.
It seems to me -- despite other experiences by other users -- that it's VISTA's fault. "PacificDude8" referred to a BlueTooth connection, which might work.
An update on my previous post.
Just a brief update. I tried an IOGear Bluetooth dongle and although the BlackBerry was recognized by Vista, I could not get the Desktop Manager to connect. I finally gave up. Yesterday evening the automatic Vista update feature downloaded an update from RIM which did not install. Frustrated, I unistalled the BB software using the regular "Program" icon of Vista. When I plugged the device in today, VISTA re-installed the drivers. However, to my great surprise, today the BlackBerry is syncing just fine. It is the same cable, the same USB port, the same software as yesterday. Go figure.
i have a 7100i that synced via BT without problems on XP. Now I have Vista Business and eventhough the PC and the phone connect I can't sync because the desktop manager says it can not find device. I have BTDesktop version 4.2.2.14 (I beleive its SP2).
Any ideas on how to solve this issue?
Thanks.
