Thanks Skylabs, for heads up on this...

The BlackBerry Pearl has the new BlackBerry OS 4.2 which supports a better Bluetooth GPS integration. "Spot for Blackberry" is one of the first programs which fully supports this new feature to guarantee very accurate and stable GPS positions.

Pinstack-Spot on the 8703e (with carrier GPS enabled) seems one the of best options.

"Spot for Blackberry" costs 49.00USD. A time limited demo version is available free for download.

When I read this email I would be happier right now with an 8703e than the Pearl. Can't wait for the UMTS w/ quad GSM 8800!

It says this will work on a 8700c http://www.skylab-mobilesystems.com/...pot_8700c.html with a external gps receiver. Is that it? Don't I need the yet to be released 4.2 OS? Thanks!

this might be a stupid question..but to anyone else who has been playing with SPOT..what does the field "GPS quality" actually siginify? I know it obviously has something to do with accuracy but I'm wondering what the levels are and what they mean.. right now mine says "available." Just wondering what exactly that means...thanks

Hey, I downloaded spot for the blackberry (Bluetooth version) and it doesn't work.

Uncaught exception: unauthorized attempt to attach to to this application.

My GPS device (HOLUX 240) is "on" at the time. I am running the latest
version of OS 4.2 for my blackberry pearl. I haven't had a chance to
put in the registration code for the spot application because I can't
get into it to do so. I downloaded spot OTA from your website.

What gives? Anyone get spot to work with 8100 Pearl??? If so, please advise.

Did this problem get fixed? I purchased SPOT a week ago, have sent NUMEROUS requests for support and get NOTHING. I have the "Uncaught Exception: Unauthorized Attempt..." error and can not enter my registration number. I have tried to delete, reinstall, reboot, etc....
Nothing. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it? I have a 8100 Pearl running the latest Cingular software. I wanted SPOT for basic geocaching abilities, not street directions.

EVERYONE ELSE SHOULD KNOW.. SPOT FOR BLACKBERRY, GETS ZERO SUPPORT ONCE THEY GET YOUR MONEY!!!! SHARE-IT EVEN REFUSED TO GIVE ME A REFUND!!!!

HOLUX 240 works like a charm in my pearl . The google maps doesn't have gps support.
I am only using bb maps in it. It gives my location, speed, streets name but lacks the routing, speech etc.
Any one have any suggestion on bb maps software.
