Question Low Limit on Memo Pad documents?

Is there a low limit as to the size of a document you can store on the MemoPad of an 8300?

I attempted to save a text file that was 32,611 bytes long; however, it only save the first 8,283 bytes.

Is this a documented limitation? If so, where is it documented?

Re: Low Limit on Memo Pad documents?

OK, this is very strange. I'm on a BES, and I just checked the size of items in Notes (Memo Pad on the BB). I have one item that's 24K (don't know how I created it - it's very old!), and one that's 13 K which I created recently on my BlackBerry.

But get this - I tried to create a new item in Outlook, and OUTLOOK won't let me enter more than 30K of text (exactly 30,783 bytes), but it shows up as 11K in Outlook!

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a 32K limit on Memo Pad documents.

Good news though - you can save anything you want on your SD card, and view them using the Media application. When you go into the Media app, click the Menu button and select Explore, then find the file you want open it. You can view it and copy text from it.

Sounds great. I have ample space on my 2GB SD care. But herein is now my problem: I added this text file to the SD card, but I don't know how to access it. It doesn't show on the MemoPad application.

I'm a lost ball in high weeds .... HELP !!

I must have had my AARP eyes in socket when I first read your response, because I blew by what you said about the Media app > Menu Button > Explore.

Thanks. Outstanding response!

If you pres the BB button (to the left of the trackball), one of the options will be the Show All. That should allow all hidden icons to show up. Another way to access the Memo Pad is to use the shortcut key. Just enter the letter D and it brings up the Memo Pad. This may be controlled by the Theme you are using though. I have been using the BB Dimension Today theme on my curve for over a year and really like that theme. Good luck.

A quick clarification of my previous post.....to use the shortcut keys you need to disable dialing from the home screen. Depress the send key > BB Key > Options > General Options > Dial From "Home Screen" > No Save these entries.
This will allow easy access to all the shortcut keys including the D key for the Memo. To dial, just press the send key once then enter the number then enter using the green send key. Good luck.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ Try BB notepad you can save to and transfer files created with this app to SD card. I don't think there a limitation to file size, and it saves in .txt format so you can edit a file created with BBnp in just about any app that can read plain text. Free too

You have to press green call button, then BB button, options, general options, then call from main screen change to no.

Yeah, there are file size limits all along the way. I am sure Exchange won't let you sync memo files that are too big, as will probably the BES.

Try an app called BBNotePad (sorry, I can't post links, you'll have to google it). Its free and works great. Can save and read files as large as you want :-)
